oh, well.....

Guess it was just a matter of time before we had to "pay-up" for the great weather we've been having on Sunday afternoons....
I heasitated to send this out until the forecast was undoubtable, but it's just going to be too wet AND cold to ride tomorrow, at least for my taste :)
On to another subject.......Eric Spies and I are planning to buy nutritional products this next week......
If you currently use HAMMER NUTRITION products or want to try some of their stuff (gels, drink mix, supplements, etc), please email me by next Wednesday to get in on a group buy. Let me know what you want; include the flavor, size and quantities.
The benefeits to you for buying this way will be that you'll pay nothing for shipping and get the bulk discount pricing if enough people buy the same types of products (ie: 3 or more gel jugs). Plan to pay for your products within a week after the their arrival (I'll email you to let you know when it's here).
Send me an email at velocraig@hotmail.com if you're interested.
See you all next week!

Sun. Feb. 22

We keep getting blessed w/ great weather on Sunday afternoons for this time of year...makes it easier to get out and ride, huh?
Speaking of riding, come join us this Sunday for the Copper Mines loop into Lumpkin and White counties. It is @ 53 miles of beautiful roads with plenty of ups and downs to keep it interesting :) Remember that we always regroup at the tops of climbs and at major intersections.

Suzanne will also have the B group doing a 25-30 mile option at 14-15mph.

Weather looks to be a little cooler but very sunny this weekend…let’s ride!!!

wow!!!

Last week was amazing!!!

30 riders strong at the start and 3 different groups....wow....

Looks like we may not have the 60 degree temps and sun this week, so we'll plan on doing the Kroger #2 loop, offering 41 miles in N. Hall w/ options aplenty if the need to cut-bait and hurry home due to weather, should arise.

Come out and join the group on Sunday, if you can...if not, get out and do a ride on your on. Spring is going to be here before you know it :)

See you on the road, Craig

Perfect weather

What can I say...the weather was perfect again this week. Remember these great November days when its cold and damp in Jan/Feb!!!
Had 11 out for the ride and 2 groups formed...

READ HERE for info on the type of training plan I use my base mileage to prep for.
This explains why going slower is so important this time of year.

If you have a heart rate monitor, wear it this next week to get a glimpse of how your body is working at lower efforts...you may find out your are still going pretty hard at times.

Next week will be a 40miler...here's the map.

Back at it

Well, we're back at it for 08/09...
Thanks to the 10 people who came out today for our second ride during a beautiful day of easy training and conversation on great N. Hall roads! Weather couldn't have been better...low 60's and sunshine :)
Suzanne A. has agreed to help add a second group for the Sunday ride that will focus on a 14-16 mph average. Hopefully this will allow just about everyone to enjoy the benefits of winter base training at a pace that is appropriate for their needs.
Both groups will leave at the same time and usually cover the same route; only the tempo will be different. This will begin this upcoming week (Nov. 2).
Oh, and don't forget about the time change next Sat/Sun...fall back an hour.
Map for Nov. 2 is below.

Time to Get Going!

Last years Sunday Kroger training rides proved to be a great tool for our cycling community...so by request......they're back!
I've had numerous request for the rides to begin sooner this year, so they will! Our first ride will be on Sunday, Oct. 19th.
Here's what you need to know at this point:

  • Rides always begin from the north end of the Kroger parking lot on Hwy 60 (Thompson Br. Rd.) near the mexican resteraunt.
  • Be ready to ride at 1pm...arrive early enough to get your clothing, equipment and nutritional needs taken care of before our 1pm departure.
  • Leave the egos at home...this is a base-training series of rides. These rides average 16-17mph at the most. This isn't a race training series...those are available elsewhere. As a rule, if you can't talk to the other riders with you then you're probably going too hard!
  • No drops on this ride...this doesn't mean that we will go 12mph all day in order to avoid leaving someone...it means that if you slip off the back of the group going up a hill we'll go easy at the top so you can get back on quickly.
  • On longer days, bring your $$...we do stop at stores when the rides exceeds 2 hours in length.
  • Please use good riding etiquette at all times...check HERE if you aren't sure what this means...others will expect it!
  • Ride routes are always pre-determined...Join our MapMyRide group in order to receive updates, maps and emails regarding the weekly ride...it's free.

Our first ride will be an easy 29mi route throug Murrayville and N. Hall...some of us will ride a little more after the group returns to Kroger to add to the mileage...all are welcome for this as well! Here's a map for the day, if you need to know where we will be going:
